A laptop for a 10-year-old child
Today, the computer seems an indispensable tool, also for children who are just beginning their adventure with science. The right equipment combined with the software can awaken the youngest in the youngest and stimulate them to explore the world. Only what does it mean the right laptop for a child?
However, before we begin to consider the technical aspects of a laptop for a child, it is worth considering whether our child is ready for it. According to psychologists, the first computer should be bought for a child of at least 10 years of age. However, it is not that we will buy a laptop and this is where our role ends. At this age, the child should learn the capabilities of the devices, but under the watchful eye of parents. It is worth remembering.
When buying a laptop for a child, we must take into account the age of our child. Why? Because it makes no sense to buy a large and heavy model with a screen size of 15.6 inches, because it can pose a big problem for the child. It will simply be too big and too massive to make it fully comfortable for the youngest. A much better choice, in the case of several years old children, will be laptops and even Ultrabooks with a screen size between 12 inches and 13.3 inches. They are a lot smaller and, above all, lighter, and all the time remain very comfortable. The reasonable resolution is 1366 x 768 pixels. It’s better not to go below this level.
A computer for a child does not have to be an incredibly efficient device that will allow running the latest games in the highest details. There is no doubt about it. At the same time, you can not aim at the cheapest models that do not provide comfort even in basic applications. It is worth choosing the middle of something inexpensive, but at the same time efficient enough not to discourage our children.
Everyone knows that the processor is the heart of the computer. He is responsible for the most important calculations and significantly affects the performance of the device. At the moment, the most powerful on the market are Intel Core i7 and AMD Ryzen 7 processors. However, there is no point in investing in a notebook for a child, because they will not use their capabilities anyway. Besides, models with Ryzenami are still unavailable on the Polish market. That’s why the most sensible choice will be laptops with Intel Core i5 or Core i3. They provide enough power for everything a child may need.
RAM is also extremely important. There are still computers with 1 or 2 GB of memory on sale, which in no way corresponds to today’s standards. The absolute minimum that will ensure comfortable operation is 4 GB of RAM. Investing in a larger amount does not make much sense. There’s enough that is enough. But if someone wants to buy a laptop with 8 GB RAM, then nothing stands in the way. Such a model will last longer, so it is an investment for the future. You can not forget about the graphics card, but for the younger users will check the chip integrated in the processor. For higher requirements, it is worth investing in dedicated Nvidia or AMD cards.
